Pioneer of Japanese industrial robots and the Kaleido humanoid

Robotics arm of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Japan's industrial-robot pioneer. Besides industrial robots and the dual-arm duAro cobot, it develops the FORRO hospital delivery robot, the NYOKKEY semi-humanoid and the Kaleido humanoid (since 2015). Kaleido 9 adds fall-resistant legs, LiDAR-based autonomous walking and HMD teleoperation. In May 2026 it opened a physical AI development hub in San Jose, working with NVIDIA, Microsoft, Fujitsu and others, and set out a focus on medical and nursing care.

ImageHospital delivery robot supporting nursing work, trialed at Fujita Health University and also targeted at large condominiums.
Kawasaki trialed FORRO at Fujita Health University to support nurses, measuring task substitution with its indoor positioning system, as presented in a February 2026 talk.
duAro was reported in use for screwdriving, assembly and case packing in factories and also in store back rooms for tasks like loading meat trays and packing rice balls.
Kaleido 9 demonstrated disaster-rescue scenarios via real-time HMD teleoperation; Kawasaki plans a stepwise path through teleoperation and human-AI hybrid operation rather than jumping to full autonomy.
